Where did Bonnie’s Blankets begin…

Bonnie’s Blankets is a ministry created in memory of Maesi’s Church Grandma, Bonnie Freese. Our mission is to make and deliver blankets to children in hospitals, especially those battling cancer, spreading the love of Christ, one blanket at a time.

Maesi, Bonnie and Holli

We first met Bonnie and her husband, Harold, at the church we attended when Maesi was just a little girl . Bonnie was known to the children at church as the “Church Grandma.” She had a huge heart for children. She handed out candy to little ones and in return they showered her with hugs. Maesi formed a special bond with our Church Grandma and spent many Sundays curled up in the seat next to her or close to her side during or after service. Bonnie’s love and generosity of spirit is forever etched in our hearts. She made a difference in our lives. Now we would like to continue spreading that love to the lives of little children.

Spreading love,

one blanket at a time

Bonnie was an example of Christ’s love and His outstretched hand. She was passionate about showing love to children. She prayed for and spent time with children with the basic goal of showering them with love. She will always live in our hearts.

And now little ones who must be brave at such an early age, can feel a tiny touch of God’s love in the form of a blanket. A blanket that was born from a lot of love and warmth of soul.

Our hope is that these little touches of love, will brighten the days of some brave little warriors as they fight their battles.

“This ministry is exactly about what my Momma lived out in her lifetime - giving love and shining her light to those around her, especially children. Maesi made a blanket to bring comfort to my Momma through her battle with cancer and in her last days. She cherished the gift. It was folded up neatly in her home in a special place. She didn’t want to use it because it was so special to her and came from someone she loved very much. She didn’t want anything to happen to it. I draped it around her shoulders though and it stayed with her from that point on. My family was moved by the love from Holli and Maesi. My Momma would be full of joy to see this ministry begun in her name. In fact, I know she is watching and sees the beauty and love that is being poured out through this ministry. Thank you. May God richly bless all that you seek to do in His name and to honor the life of my mother.”

We love you, Bonnie.
